"What I am attempting is to prepare the reader for the conclusion that there is no conclusion to the study of pedigrees." J. A. Estes, former editor of The Blood-Horse
Pedigree refers to a horse's family tree, with its paternal ancestors -- sire/father -- on the top, and its maternal ancestors -- dam/mother -- on the bottom. A horse's pedigree provides insight into its potential ability and value.

Thoroughbred Genetics has published the results of a six-year study in the international peer reviewed journal, Mitochondrion. It is the first proof that there is an association between genes and their role in the individual performances of racehorses. The article is to appear in April.
In the largest published equine genetics study of its kind, Dr Stephen Harrison and Mr Juan Luis Turrion-Gomez detected variations in eight athletically-important genes in DNA samples, taken from 1000 thorough |

Thoroughbred Pedigrees
Pedigree is the absolute essence of the Thoroughbred race horse, a breed whose origins lie in its name, being "thoroughly-bred" or "pure-bred", a translation of the Arabic word "Kehilan", used by desert Bedouins to describe the quality of their Arabian mares' ancestry, free from the taint of less noble ancestors. The idea of a "pure-bred" horse appealed to the English aristocracy who also tried to scrupulously maintain the purity of their own families, and so, the General Stud Book was born at t |

Today, over 65% of horse care operations supplement horse hay and pasture grasses with specialty horse feeds such as pellets and grains. Many equine nutritionists point to the dramatic impact of these specialty feeds on improving equine health and longevity. However, selecting the right combination of nutrients for the unique needs of your fully mature horses, as well as your foals, yearlings and lactating mares, can be both time consuming and confusing. So, Triple Crown Nutrition has taken the mystery out of the mix, creating a one-feed-for-all, called "Triple Crown TLC" or "Total Lifetime Care."
"What really makes Triple Crown TLC so groundbreaking," said Jessica Drexler, a Triple Crown Horse Feed Consultant, " Is that we've included not only our ground breaking combination of complex amino acids, fats and organic minerals to give the growing horse a great head start, but we've complemented all of that with digestive enzymes, Mycotoxins protection and probiotics. All these elements are designed to enhance nutritional absorption and a healthy hindgut while simultaneously energizing cells and accelerating cell repair. Most importantly, this feed's nutritional profile is consistent with the guarantees in all the TC feeds."
Designed to deliver the best possible horse nutrition components for horses of all ages, "Triple Crown TLC," enables knowledgeable horse professionals to more easily monitor multiple horse feeding programs. Mature animals weighing 1,000 lbs. should be fed 5 to 6 lbs. of "Triple Crown TLC," everyday. Young horses should be fed 1% of their body weight, until they reach 400 lbs. Weanlings and older foals should receive multiple daily feedings, enough "Triple Crown TLC," to help them maintain a moderate body weight. According to Jessica, "If any of your foals are too young for 5-6 lbs. of 'Triple Crown TLC,' per day, we then suggest you supplement with 1 lb. of 'Triple Crown 30% Supplement,' to insure adequate mineral and vitamin levels. For ponies, cut that horse feed amount in 1/2."
To find a Triple Crown Horse Feed dealer near you, please visit http://www.triplecrownfeed.com. To discuss the benefits of feeding Triple Crown TLC to your horses, feel free to ring a Triple Crown Feed Consultant at 800.451.9916.

As always, a picture is worth countless words. So, this page is structured to show how No Thrush ® is used, what to expect, and also to learn our hints and recommendations for the best and fastest thrush treatment.... By the way... Notice we don't say "Cure" when speaking about thrush, we say "Treat." This is because thrush is not curable. The bacteria lives in the horse, and returns when conditions aren't ideal. Once thrush takes hold, all you can do is treat. (Although we do recommend using No Thrush ® in a regular maintenance program). After regular treatment and healing dusting, a PRO-ACTIVE 4-5 dustings per month (maintenance) will give substantial aid in keeping thrush from re-invading. So, No Thrush ®, and all the rest, "treat." Our customers happen to believe that we have the best, cleanest, and most versatile thrush product on the market. Check out the testimonials.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT USAGE: 4-7 days of use is all that is needed to treat 95% of the active thrush cases out there. (Then regular maintenance is recommended) But please note..... If you have been "chasing thrush" for an extended period of time, (months, years?) and you've tried every product and concoction with limited results (and the thrush returns quickly), that is indication that the bacteria is lodged deep in the tissue of the foot. In these cases you will probably find an unusual crack in the frog or deeper-than-normal crevice at the heel. This crack can not be left alone.
Distribution - Retailers, NO THRUSH can be found through many distributors, including VSI, BCI, RJ Matthews, K&K Supply, Western Saddlery, Jack's Inc, Nelson Wholesale, Cascade Animal Health, Animal Health International, Dubois Distributors. When I was a kid, I somehow figured out how to buy and fit horse blankets without too much trouble. But, now that I'm middle aged, I use a horse blanket consultant to make sure my horse's comfort and well being is assured. Ecole Lathrop, of Valencia Saddlery, was kind enough to drop by with a variety of day sheets and blankets to demonstrate some of the basics behind fitting your horse for a new blanket. "Equilink's Search," aka, "Rio," is the model in this video. Enjoy!
