Standing behind the clubhouse windows at Aqueduct racetrack in Queens, Leo Berg did not watch the bulldozers scrape away the slush that kept the horses from racing this past Saturday.
The 85-year-old Berg instead stared at a television monitor broadcasting a horse race from the Tampa Bay Downs in Florida. Berg had bet $4 on a 10 to 1 long shot horse named Not Up For Love in the fifth race.

When I was a kid, I somehow figured out how to buy and fit horse blankets without too much trouble. But, now that I'm middle aged, I use a horse blanket consultant to make sure my horse's comfort and well being is assured. Ecole Lathrop, of Valencia Saddlery, was kind enough to drop by with a variety of day sheets and blankets to demonstrate some of the basics behind fitting your horse for a new blanket.
